Our mission is to remove financial and religious barriers from chess participation and promote chess within the local Jewish community, the underserved, and beyond.

Often, it is difficult/impossible for religious Orthodox Jews to participate in tournaments, chess classes and other events since many events are held on the Friday/Saturday which interferes with the Shabbat. In addition, chess tournament participation and lessons are often very pricy and limits chess participation and learning for many, especially the underserved.

Therefore, Pawn Sacrifice Chess Club is committed to hosting competitive events free-of-charge or with low entry free prices on days that do not conflict with the Shabbat and religious holidays.
